Bungie and Activision, collaboration with Blizzard Entertainment, has announced that Destiny 2 is free to players on PC. From November 2 – November 18, everyone on Blizzard’s Battle.net gaming platform who hasn’t already purchased Destiny 2 can claim it as a free gift. This gift is to celebrate one year on PC since launching in 2017. Existing Destiny 2 PC players will receive an exclusive emblem. This allows players to try out Destiny 2’s new Gambit mode, the 4v4 hybrid activity included in the Forsaken expansion. This free version of Destiny 2 will not include the expansions, however.
“We know Destiny players that want to play on PC expect an amazing experience, whether it’s on their own or with their friends — so, our paramount concern was to keep the discerning requirements of the PC community in mind, and welcoming the Battle.net and Bungie PC communities together,” said Steve Cotton, game director for Destiny 2: Forsaken at Bungie. He added, “With this gift we look forward to seeing new Guardians in our universe.”
Destiny 2 was offered for free to PlayStation Plus subscribers recently and it left a bad taste in a few people’s mouths that had bought the game less than a month ago. In their eyes, the game lacked the overall progression they had hoped for. Destiny 2 on PC is the best version to play as a delivers a native PC experience and the game is very well optimized. Destiny 2 PC is playable on Windows 7, Windows 8, and Windows 10. Minimum system requirements for the PC game are an Intel Core i3-3250, Intel Pentium G4560, or an AMD FX-4350, along with a GeForce GTX 660 2GB, GTX 1050 2GB, or Radeon HD 7850. Additionally, 6GB of RAM, and 104GB of HDD space and internet connection are required.
