Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted Brings Back a Familiar Location

Bungie today revealed the next season of content for Destiny 2, and it brings back a familiar location from vanilla Destiny 2.

Season of the Haunted is all about confronting nightmares, which makes the return of the Leviathan appropriate. In vanilla Destiny 2, the gargantuan space vessel served as the Raid location with players traveling deep into the planet-eater’s depths. Along with a wide array of other content, the Leviathan was sadly vaulted when Destiny 2: Beyond Light launched. Now, the ship is back, but it’s certainly seen better days.

In Season of the Haunted, the Leviathan returns corrupted to contact the Moon’s Pyramid ship. The ensuing connection summons Nightmares of the past. In the new Sever activity, Guardians will navigate the ship’s underbelly to uncover Emperor Calus’ sinister plan and put an end to the Nightmares.

Asides from Sever, which requires purchasing the Season Pass to play, the season includes other content and activities that all players can enjoy. Nightmare Containment involves groups of Guardians summoning challenging Nightmares and cleansing them with fire. After Void 3.0’s successful implementation in The Witch Queen, Season of the Haunted brings Solar up to speed with Solar 3.0. Finally, there’s a new Season Pass of items to unlock with Free and Paid tracks.

Destiny 2: Season of the Haunted kicks off today and runs through August 23. Destiny 2: The Witch Queen is available now on PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC, PS4, Xbox One, and Stadia.
