Bungie today announced a delay to Destiny 2's next expansion, Shadowkeep, and the free-to-play version of the game, New Light.

Those anticipating the latest expansion for Destiny 2 will need to wait a bit longer. Both Shadowkeep and the free-to-play New Light (i.e. base Destiny 2) are now out October 1, a delay from the original September 17 release. Bungie ultimately made the decision to spend more time polishing both products, an action they can now make after going completely independent. As Shadowkeep is delayed, the raid has also been delayed. Garden of Salvation now launches on October 5.

To make up for the delay, Bungie intends to extend the Moments of Triumph event to September 17. Players now have an extra three weeks to complete the year's challenges and earn rewards. Also, on the week of September 17, Iron Banner returns one final time this season. Finally, Cross-Save will still launch this summer, giving players time to compile their friends list ahead of Shadowkeep.

Destiny 2: Shadowkeep is out October 1 on PS4, Xbox One, and PC. The expansion launches alongside Stadia in November.
