id Software and Bethesda Softworks today confirmed that Doom Eternal has been delayed to 2020.

Originally scheduled for a November 22, 2019 launch, id Software today pushed back the release date to March 20, 2020 for the PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Stadia versions. According to the studio, they need some extra time to polish the game and make sure it serves as a worthy follow-up to their 2016 hit.

In addition to the delay, the studio also had some more bad news. Invasion Mode wont come at launch, but instead arrives after as part a free update. Switch players will be especially unhappy to hear that their version of the game has been delayed farther out than the other versions. At this point in time, id Software has not revealed when the Switch version launches.

However, it's not all bad news. The studio confirmed that Doom 64 is coming to PS4, Xbox One, and PC in addition to the already announced Switch version. It's out March 20, 2020 and comes free for anyone who pre-orders Doom Eternal.

Doom Eternal is out March 20, 2020 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Google Stadia. To find out what we think about the game, be sure to check out our E3 2019 impressions of the PC and Stadia versions.
