Developer Rebellion has just announced that it is rebooting Battlezone, the world's first virtual reality game from 1980, for Sony's Project Morpheus.

The original Battlezone put you in the driver's seat of a tank, looking through the periscope to take out enemies in a vector world; Rebellion didn't say too much about how its reboot might differ or update the older title, but boy, that art style sure does look pretty. Even if the game turns out to be nothing more than a Tron-inspired tank battle game, that'll be more than enough for me, especially in virtual reality.

We know that the tank is called the Cobra, but nothing more concrete, and no release date. Hopefully we'll find out more soon.
