EA today confirmed when the next Battlefield game will launch, and it won't be alongside the PS5 or Project Scarlett.

Those hoping for a new Battlefield game to coincide with the launch of the new consoles are going to be disappointed. Whatever DICE has planned next for their series, it won't arrive in time for the holiday 2020 launch of PS5 and Project Scarlett.

EA revealed in their Q2 2020 earnings report that the next Battlefield arrives in fiscal year 2022. That means the game could launch anywhere from April 1, 2021-March 31, 2020. No details on the game were given.

The last game in the franchise, Battlefield V, launched November 2018. Before that, Battlefield 1 launched in October 2016. Given the two year different, there was hope a new game would arrive holiday 2020. However, it appears that EA is giving DICE more time to complete and polish there game. Of DICE's three Battlefield games this-gen, only Battlefield 1 managed to launch without major issues. Battlefield 4 was severely broken when it launched in 2013, and Battlefield V fared even worse.
