EA will once again kick off the unofficial start of the pre-E3 festivities, with their EA Play event foregoing the usual press conference but still featuring plenty of new gameplay for the publisher’s current and upcoming titles the weekend prior to E3.

When EA confirmed that EA Play would once again be returning this year, the publisher originally indicated that there would be two days of streaming for those unable to attend, but have since altered their plans to only stream on the first day of the event, June 8. Now, the full streaming schedule has been revealed, with six games, split evenly between currently available and yet-to-launch titles, gaining the spotlight for a half hour each.

Even with that promising lineup, there are several notable absences that have left some fans curious for answers, specifically regarding this year’s Need for Speed release that was confirmed by EA earlier this year. To address these concerns, EA community lead Ben Walke took to Need for Speed’s Reddit page and shared the news that while the newest Need for Speed is still scheduled to launch later this year, there will not be any news arriving next month as part of EA Play or E3. Although fans eager to get their first look at the next entry in the arcade racer franchise may be let down, it was undeniably considerate of EA to set expectations correctly for fans ahead of E3 instead of dealing with or ignoring the inevitable disappointment afterwards.
