Last week, EA Sports revealed the cover athlete and a big addition to Madden NFL 20 with Face of the Franchise: QB1. This will be a career mode that focuses on the player as a quarterback as they traverse the College Football Playoffs and the NFL Scouting Combine to determine draft status. The team states it listened to the fans and this was the number one request was a career mode that pits the player as the quarterback. EA has revealed some more details about this mode. It will include face editing rather than generic faces, so this will hopefully add some depth to your player. Players will choose from one of ten of the top schools and hit the Playoffs as the performance will begin the process of dictating your draft status.

Not really any details were given about what players will be doing in the NFL Combine, but it was previously stated that every decision will impact your draft status. Once drafted, you will have to prove you belong on the field in the NFL no matter where you were picked. Madden NFL 20 will feature a Scenario Engine that generates personal player scenarios. These will include dynamic events and challenges that will serve as mementos of your career. Player Archetypes return as you will focus on improving these abilities throughout your career.

A couple of notes for Franchise Mode were added including the return of the Pro Bowl. Ratings for players will also be more spread out meaning a 90 OVR player will have a bigger gap from an 89 OVR as compared to the past.  The team has made large updates to the Development Trait system to support Superstar and Zone abilities. The Development Traits in Madden 20 are: Normal, Star, Superstar, and Superstar X-Factor. Both Superstar and X-Factors players can earn Superstar Abilities, but only X-Factors can earn Zone Abilities. They have also addressed one of the communities’ biggest complaints: players dropping down in Development Trait. In Madden 20, players can no longer go down in Development Trait at the end of a season.

Other changes are coming to Coach Mode including the Scenario Engine. Other aspects such as contracts, progression, and the draft will also receive updates for a better experience. Finally, throwing power is being improved to help better throwing dynamics with how the ball trajectory is in the air. Maybe this means that fade routes will finally be possible. There will be a livestream of Madden NFL 20 on 5/23 and the game releases on August 2 for PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Origin PC.
