NetherRealm Studios’ Mortal Kombat X won’t be making its way to Sony's PlayStation Vita, Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon has confirmed.

A Twitter user, Quamel Wright, asked Boon whether there is any chance that a PS Vita version of Mortal Kombat X is in development, with the MKX creative director responding with a firm “No.”

NetherRealm’s 2011 reboot of the Mortal Kombat franchise, Mortal Kombat 9, was one of the titles that publisher Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment ported to the PS Vita in 2012 -- the Twitter user also posted the cover art of MK9 in the same tweet to Boon.

Boon ruling out of a PS Vita version means that Mortal Kombat X will only be available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC, with Warner Bros. having pulled the plug on High Voltage Software’s ports for PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360.

While there might not be any plans to push Mortal Kombat X out to other platforms, Warner Bros. and NetherRealm have confirmed that more content is being planned for the title in the form of DLC, with Boon recently teasing the silhouettes of four new characters that will be introduced to the game's roster.

Hardcore Gamer’s review for Mortal Kombat X praised NetherRealm for taking the franchise into a new direction, as not only does the title have “the highest quality story NetherRealm has ever put together, [but] it’s perhaps the best fighting game story ever.”
