Not too long ago, Precursor Games turned to crowdfunding to back their sequel to the GameCube classic Eternal Darkness. Because their initial efforts didn't exactly yield the results for which they were looking, the company eventually pulled the plug on the Kickstarter campaign prematurely. Afterward, the developers reached out to their community, asked for their input and are now planning to relaunch a second Kickstarter for the project on July 25.

In a statement released today, Precursor said the following:

Your feedback has been instrumental in many ways throughout the process of creating the new campaign and we can’t wait for you to see what we have in store for you all.

The studio explained that a relaunch was necessary despite garnering, “more support from our community than we had ever hoped for." They went on to say that with this second campaign they could provide, “new exciting opportunities that will make the game better than we envisioned.”

Needless to say, Shadow of the Eternals looked quite promising in the videos put up when the original campaign was first launched. Thus, we're hoping the team has gotten their act together and are righting the wrongs of their initial misguided crowdfunding attempt, so that we can get the sequel to one of the most underrated GameCube titles around. This industry is in dire need a a solid psychological thriller.
