Bethesda Softworks has announced that Fallout 4's launch has been a tremendous success, generating record sales at retail and digital storefronts. Bethesda has shipped 12 million copies worldwide, representing sales of about $750 million.

According to Bethesda, Fallout 4 is doing extremely well. Major retailers have told the publisher that consumer interest in the title was tremendous. In fact, the Fallout 4 Pip-Boy Edition was the fastest-selling collector's edition of any game in history. The game is also breaking digital sales records. On Steam, Fallout 4 became the number one game played, accumulating a total of 470,000 players. No word on how well digital versions on PS4 and Xbox One sold. The companion app, Fallout Pip-Boy, became the number one game on the iTunes App Store.

Call of Duty: Black Ops III still holds the record for the biggest entertainment launch of 2015. The game sold-through $550 million copies to consumers in comparison to Fallout 4's 12 million shipped copies. However, Fallout 4 did steal one of Black Ops III's records. Fallout 4 is now the most viewed game launch of 2015.
