Dontnod Entertainment’s Life Is Strange 2 will be coming to macOS and Linux in 2019, Square Enix and Feral Interactive today announced.

Feral has had a long-standing relationship with Square’s episodic adventure series, previously porting the original Life Is Strange and Life Is Strange: Before the Storm to macOS and Linux.

The news follows on from the release of Life Is Strange 2’s opener, Episode 1: Roads, on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC last week.

Dontnod’s sequel, which was first announced in 2017, takes players to suburban Seattle and into the lives of Sean and Daniel Diaz, who are forced to leave their home after an incident involving the police.

With the two Diaz brothers on the run, they plan to find refuge in the family’s hometown of Puerto Lobos, Mexico. However, they will also find themselves coming to terms with the “manifestation of a supernatural power they don’t understand and can’t fully control.”

The sequel to the critically acclaimed 2015 episodic series has been met with widespread praise from fans and critics, with Hardcore Gamer awarding the opening episode a near-perfect score.

“Episode 1: Roads is a shining example of a developer that has built on the success of the first title and only continued to improve with the experience it has under its belt in episodic gaming,” reads an extract from our review.

“The developer has stayed true to its roots with Life Is Strange 2, revisiting its tried-and-tested formula and adjusting it in a way that perfectly works with the new set of wonderful characters in the universe.”
