FIFA 16, EA's first FIFA game to feature playable female teams, is also primed to be the first installment in the franchise to feature female athletes on the cover. United States Women's National Team striker and recent World Cup champion Alex Morgan will line up alongside longstanding FIFA cover star Lionel Messi on copies of FIFA 16 sold in the US, while Canadian star Christine Sinclair will feature on Canadian copies.

While the addition of women's teams to FIFA is a very big deal, with only 16 international squads to choose from it's still a very small representation of the women's game. The United States and Canadian women's national teams are obviously both included, but other less prominent teams, like World Cup runners-up Japan, are sadly nowhere to be seen.

FIFA 16 will release on PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, and PC on September 22.
