Final Fantasy XV director Hajime Tabata announced that Final Fantasy XV has a very bright future ahead of it.

Final Fantasy XV, which launched in 2016, has three single player expansions, a multiplayer expansion, and tons of free quality-of-life improvements. Most developers at this point would call it a day and move on to the next title. However, that's not the approach Tabata is taking with Final Fantasy XV.

Speaking with Dengeki Online (translated by Nova Crystallis), he and game designer Takefumi Terada confirmed that they have expanded Final Fantasy XV's content roadmap into 2019. Instead of the previously announced three new episodes, Tabata's team is now working on four. The change came about while developing the upcoming Episode Ardyn with the team wanting to produce additional content. As such, the plans changed with the four episodes releasing throughout 2018 and into 2019.

Tabata did not reveal who would be the star of the other three episodes. It has already been confirmed that the first new episode would star Ardyn. Potential characters being thrown about include Luna, Ravus, and Aranea. Additional content beyond these four expansions has yet to be determined.

Final Fantasy XV is available now on PS4 and Xbox One. The Royal (PS4 and Xbox One) and Windows (Steam and Windows 10) Editions of the game, which include the original four expansions, launch March 6.
