In spring of 2006 I was finishing up my Sophomore year of high school and had only been following gaming for a year. E3 2006 was my first E3 and Square Enix wowed me with the announcement of their next three games in the Final Fantasy series, Final Fantasy XIII, Final Fantasy Versus XIII and Final Fantasy Agito XIII. These three games were under the branch of Fabula Nova Crystallis, three games with three tales under the XIII universe. The Fabula Nova Crystallis motif was dropped over the years as the three games branched out into beings of their own. Final Fantasy XIII would go on to receive lukewarm reception by fans, but received two sequels despite this, Final Fantasy Agito XIII was renamed Final Fantasy Type-0 and Final Fantasy Versus XIII ended up becoming a main entry in 2013 rechristened as Final Fantasy XV.

Never would I have thought that I would still be waiting for the Final Fantasy Versus XIII release ten years later. The game has been long in development switching directors, name and platforms. For many years information about the game was sparse, but information started coming regularly around 2014. Two months ago Square Enix held the March Uncovered Event and revealed that Final Fantasy XV will be releasing worldwide on September 30. With four months to spare, there is still plenty to learn about this game until its release and there will likely be some information given to us at this year's E3. Final Fantasy XV has been a long time coming. With a decade's worth of fans anticipating it, it has a lot to live up to come September 30.
