The first issue of the Life Is Strange comic book series is set to arrive this November, Square Enix and Dontnod Entertainment today announced.

Life Is Strange

Taking to the Life Is Strange Twitter account, the publisher and developer confirmed that British artist Emma Vieceli, who’s worked on franchises such as Doctor Who and Back to the Future, will be writing the comic and Claudia Leonardi will be doing interior art.

“Join Max and Chloe as they return to Arcadia Bay, charting the course of a possible future after one of the two endings of the game,” reads the tweet.

While the comic is coming out in November, an official release date has not been confirmed. However, artwork for the Life Is Strange comic was tweeted alongside the announcement (posted on the right).

Vieceli also took to Twitter after the announcement was made, saying that she’s “beyond excited” to work with Dontnod, Square Enix, Leonardi and Titan Comics.

“Like so many players all over the world, I fell hard for Max and her story from the release of Episode 1, and every chapter brought more heartache, tears and emotional rollercoasters,” Vieceli explained (via a Life Is Strange Facebook post).

“One of the wonders of the series is that every player may have taken Max and Chloe on a unique journey, and so distilling their possible futures into one miniseries is a huge thing.

“Importantly, as with the game, it must always be remembered that what we're creating here is one possibility out of many. I'm excited [about] the story we've opted for, and I hope readers will be too!”

News first emerged on the officially licensed series back in March, with Titan Comics and Square Enix publishing it. The comics will be released as a four-part miniseries, according to Titan and Square.

Yesterday, Life Is Strange made its long-awaited debut on Android, with Episode 1: Chrysalis also released as a free download on the platform.

Life Is Strange is available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC, macOS, Linux, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and iOS devices.

Initially released in 2015, the five-part episodic series centers on the story of Max Caulfield, who returns to her hometown of Arcadia Bay, Oregon, and discovers that she can rewind time.

Hardcore Gamer praised Life Is Strange following the release of all five episodes, saying in our season review that it “sets a new precedent for episodic gaming and reiterates why it’s a bona fide contender for 2015’s GOTY, despite facing fierce competition for that distinguished accolade.”
