It's been a long time since we've seen anything involving Flashback. Ubisoft commissioned a remake in 2013 that hit consoles and PC to mixed reviews. The original game was a puzzle-platformer with rotoscoped animation that followed up on the foundation forged with Another World. The reimagining of Flashback showcased puzzle-platforming, but was more action-centric.

During the 2022 Summer Game Fest, it was announced that we will get a new Flashback in 2023 from Microids that follows up on the original adventure and seemingly its story as well. There wasn't a lot of footage shown, but what was shown was somewhat action-oriented and looked to have smoother animation than the 2013 game alongside that quicker pace compared to the original. Microids was named for it and it will be released on Switch Xbox One, Xbox Series, PS4, PS5, and PCs in 2023.
