Video games have long been their own expansive source material. With sprawling worlds and engaging stories, they often make for compelling entertainment that can transcend beyond their platform. DONTNOD Entertainment’s recent title, Vampyr, looks to receive the television treatment as well due to its critical acclaim. In a move to bring dark gritty world of Vampyr to life, Fox21 TV Studios has obtained the rights to turn the game into its own television show. Partnering with Wonderland Sound & Vision and DJ2 Entertainment, the title developers are feeling optimistic about this new move.
DONTNOD CEO, Oskar Guilbert, commends the project by saying, “we believe it is a fantastic premise for a television. This is a new and exciting way for fans of the game, as well as the uninitiated, to enter and engage with Vampyr’s rich, deep story. We cannot wait to see how the talented team at Fox21 will bring out the darkly atmospheric universe of our game into television.” With this information just now breaking, we still know little about the project and if it will follow the same story as the game, or if it will imagine Doctor Jonathan Reid in a new scenario. Vampyr is currently available to play on PlayStation 4, Xbox One and PC.
