The classic PC strategy game Homeworld and its sequel are getting HD updating this year courtesy of Gearbox, who have just revealed more details about the intriguing release. The game has been crated with the guidance of the original creators with the help of the fan community. It will include high-res textures and models, new graphical effects and support for HD, UDH and 4K resolutions. The original audio and video artists have created the cinematic scenes in high fidelity.

More still, the multiplayer for both modes has been combined into one centralized mode. Finally, the collection will include the original versions of the games.

Additionally, Gearbox will be releasing a very limited collector's edition of the game in Early Autumn 2014 that includes an art book, manual, keychain and game codes. Fans are able to vote for which mothership statue they'd like included with the set. The choices are either a 6" zinc replica with a brushed metal finish for $74.99 or a 12" hand decorated molded ABS resin replica with LED lights and a USB/AC power cord for $100.
