With the latest update to the New Xbox One Experience rolling out this week, one of the update's more notable changes is the removal of Xbox One's universal gestures feature. Shown off during Microsoft's Xbox One reveal in 2013, gestures were intended to give people the chance to use Kinect to browse their UI as well as switch between menus. But the feature, it seems, is no more -- Xbox's Mike Ybarra, in an interview with Windows Central, explaining the decision to remove gestures was based on community usage being 'very, very low'.

"On gestures, when we looked at the New Xbox One Experience we wanted to prioritise features that customers were asking for, plus areas of improvement from the existing Xbox One UI. Then, we wanted to look at the use-case model of features that take a lot of investment and say, "is it worth continuing to invest in that area?...So for now, we've cut that from the New Xbox One Experience. So when we launch on the 12th, they won't be in the product. We'll continue to monitor and listen to feedback to see if people want them in."

Voice recognition will remain, meaning users can still browse their console without using controls. Games that also use Kinect and include gesture support also won't be affected in this latest update which becomes available this Thursday, November 12.
