During the May 30 edition of WWE Monday Night Raw, an ad for WWE 2K17 was revealed showing off its first big-time roster member - Bill Goldberg. WWE 2K17 was revealed earlier in the day on WWEShop.com as well - with releases earmarked for the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4. The game is also available for pre-order, as discussed earlier. WWE's games have used legendary figures to bolster its roster for years now - with Steve Austin being the cover star last year, and pro wrestling's biggest all-time drawing card did help sales a bit.

WWE 2K14 brought the Ultimate Warrior back into the fold, while WWE 2K15 featured Sting as its big "get" for the roster, and marked Hulk Hogan's final video game appearance for the time being as well. WWE 2K16 was all about The Terminator in his T1 and T2 incarnations being playable - which was bizarre, but led to some fun matches. There hasn't been a lot of information revealed about 2K17, but we should know more in the coming weeks. The upcoming WWE brand extension could hurt the game a bit if they don't bolster it with a lot of NXT acts that will likely be brought up, like Bayley and former New Japan Pro Wrestling stars like The Club and Shinsuke Nakamura - but they've been very forward-thinking in that regard, so it probably won't be a huge issue.

2K has also announced that those who pre-order will gain access to a WCW Monday Nitro arena and also a Halloween Havoc arena - and while the year wasn't announced, with DDP being in prior games, it seems like he'll be in here to recreate his October 1998 match with Goldberg at the 1998 Halloween Havoc event. Goldberg will be a pre-order bonus and was last featured in WWE 2K14 as a legendary figure - but didn't have a hype machine behind him for this. With his DVD release doing exceptionally well and another on the way, it looks like WWE is definitely back in the Goldberg business. WWE 2K17 is set for an October release.
