How appropriate that a bit of speedrunning glory would happen before Awesome Games Done Quick gets started this weekend on January 7? Gone Home might seem like the furthest thing from a speedrunning game, but that’s exactly what it’s become, and a new record time of 46.55 seconds has been set by Traynor Gauthier -- who goes by T_Gimik on Twitch -- breaking his personal world record four times in the process.

Like all things speedrunning, T_Gimik had to wait on the official word if his record was legitimate, but it most certainly is if his video is anything to go by. Even Gone Home gave it a retweet, ecstatic that people are still speedrunning the game.

Gone Home was originally released in 2013 for PC, later making its way to console. Gone Home was part of the initial wave of walking-simulators (as they are known)tasking players to take the role of a young woman coming home from a trip abroad to find the house completely empty, with messages, pictures and notes to piece together what happened.
