At the recent Geneva Motor Show, Sony and TAG Heuer announced a partnership that will see official timing in the upcoming Gran Turismo Sport be handled by the Swiss clock manufacturer. A few days later, Sony and Polyphony Digital have announced a closed beta for the game. Starting March 17, aspiring drivers can potentially dive into Gran Turismo Sport and experience what Polyphony Digital has accomplished thus far. To coincide with the announcement, a new trailer has been released as that marks two new trailers this week.

"Hello, GT fans! We’re extremely excited at Polyphony to announce the Gran Turismo Sport Closed Beta. Beta participants will get a sneak peek at how Gran Turismo will pave the future of racing, competing in highly competitive races against other users across the country, and eventually, across the globe."

Players in the US can sign up for the beta here, while Europe will be able to sign up soon. The initial phase will be invitation only, so make sure to check messages on the PlayStation Dashboard to see if access has been granted. A select rotation of cars and tracks can be chosen daily to races others online.  states in his official release that different variations of classes will be selected over the span of the beta. Players will also get to experience the new Driver Profile for the first time, as Sportsmanship Racing and Driver Rating will help determine the best online matches in races. Lastly, the servers will only be available at certain times of the day and that information will be shared closer to launch.
