Grim Dawn, the debut action RPG title from developer and publisher Crate Entertainment, has sold more than 500,000 copies worldwide.
The milestone comes more than two years since Grim Dawn first appeared on Steam Early Access and four months since its full release on PC.
“With no outside investors or publishers, the financial success of Grim Dawn will remain with the studio and fund future projects,” Crate Entertainment said.
Crate Entertainment posted another message on its dedicated Grim Dawn Facebook page, which reads as follows: “We’re pleased to announce that GD recently surpassed 500,000 copies sold on PC! Thank you to all the early supporters who helped make this game a reality and to all those who continue to enjoy and recommend it!”
Grim Dawn’s developer has also revealed that it’s working on the Crucible, a new mode that will be coming to the RPG title. Additionally, Crate Entertainment is developing a new expansion and a yet-to-be-announced project is in the works.
Development on Grim Dawn began in January 2010, though Crate Entertainment would turn to Kickstarter in 2012 in order to fully finance the title (which it successfully did).
