Back in January, HTC announced a new version of its Vive VR headset that will feature a better display along with built-in headphones. The display will increase the resolution to 2880x1600 as compared to 2160x1200 from the original Vive.

Known as the Vive Pro, HTC has announced the release date and the pricing for the unit. This also means that the original Vive will get a price drop. The Vive Pro will retail for $799, with the original Vive dropping to $499.

The unit is available for pre-order and it will release on April 5. If the Vive Pro is purchased before June 3, those customers will receive a free six month subscription to Viveport. That service allows customers to choose five free games per month to play. The service will increase to $8.99 after March 22 from $7.99.
