In a Kickstarter post today, Hyper Light Drifter creator Alex Preston explained that the Wii U and PlayStation Vita versions of the game that were originally promised as part of his Kickstarter campaign were being cancelled.

After the ports for the Wii U and Vita version were originally pushed back from their original release dates, the game's release on the two platforms had been up in the air for a while.

In the end, Preston stated the reason for the cancellation was due to the games native engine, Game Maker Pro, which simply wasn't up to the task of being ported to the two pieces of hardware.

“We pushed the engine to do things it was never meant to do,” Preston said in the statement to his backers.

Developer Heart Machine has promised a full refund to anyone who backed the game with the expectation of receiving it on Wii U or Vita, as well as offering those affected the ability to receive the game on PC, PS4 or Xbox One if they so choose.

We reviewed Hyper Light Drifter back when it came out in March and loved it, so if you can get it on another platform, we highly recommend that.
