With Arnold Schwarzenegger going into WWE's hall of fame in 2015, and the Terminator-themed logo for WrestleMania, it seemed natural that he would do more with the company. Today, it was announced that his Terminator persona will be a playable character in WWE 2K16 as a pre-order bonus. The T-800 from Terminator and Terminator 2 will be playable and it will available for all consoles. A PC version of the game hasn't been announced yet, but with the PC version receiving high marks for its modding scene and 2K being so active in supporting the mods, it would seem like a logical move at some point.

While The Terminator being a playable character in a wrestling game may seem illogical, it's not all that weird for wrestling. Robocop was in WCW, Rick Steiner once argued with Chucky and David Arquette was WCW World Heavyweight Champion. Pro wrestling has also had a long history of using pop culture "inspired" acts like wrestling versions of Batman, Robin and the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles -- so this fits right in. Gaming-wise, this is no more ridiculous than Fred Durst being playable in WWF SmackDown: Just Bring It and you can finally have an HHH vs. Terminator match to play off Arnold beating up HHH on SmackDown many years ago.

The inclusion of Fred Durst in SmackDown: Just Bring It (and Raw) was slightly controversial at the time, but made sense. The Undertaker was the American Badass, and was using "Rollin" as his entrance theme. WWE rarely got the rights for it on home video, outside of WrestleMania XIX's live performance and it being in a game seemed impossible. WWE was, however, able to get the theme song in the game with a catch -- Fred Durst had to be made a playable character. In the case of WWF Raw, this allowed you to have scenarios like the legendary tough guy Haku beating his ass. SmackDown: Just Bring It's open environments led to some crazy things, though, including chucking him off of a second-floor area and/or through glass.

The Terminator being playable in WWE 2K16 fits in nicely with pro wrestling's wacky history. Plus, you can get dream matches like The Undertaker vs. The Terminator. One really fun battle could be Brock Lesnar vs. The Terminator, and if they go with some fantasy moves for him, it could lead to some fun things. One of the best things about wrestling games is the creation suite allowing for unofficial dream matches, and having them be official makes them that much more fun. WWE 2K16 is set for an October 27 release across North America, with an international release following on October 30.
