The Pinball Arcade continued its quest to replicate every table every created in the entire history of pinball today by adding the excellent Earthshaker to its Season Four library. Earthshaker was a 1993 pinball by Pat Lawlor, with the object being to drive through a California quaking its way into the sea. It’s a unique theme, emphasized by a table that rattles away as the earthquake hits and with some fun toys like a lane that opens up as California separates from Nevada and a building that sinks into the playfield. While Farsight mentions that latter toy in their announcement, the building doesn’t seem to sink in The Pinball Arcade. It was a feature removed from later versions of the original release to make the table cheaper to produce, but in theory a digital recreation shouldn’t bump up against that limitation. Still, it’s a really fun table that’s got a great flow to it. Earthshaker is currently available on Steam for Mac and PC, iOS, and Ouya.
Also wrapped up in the Earthshaker announcement is information on the next table to be released- Starship Troopers. This was a pretty decent table from Sega that, honestly, I never got a lot of time with. It should be a lot of fun to get properly familiar with how it plays when it releases in the new year.
