The Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences (AIAS) on Tuesday announced that developer Jade Raymond has become the latest member to be appointed to its board of directors.

Consisting of 13 members from different areas of the gaming industry, AIAS’ board of directors “help[s] the Academy advance its mission of promoting awareness of the art and science of interactive games and entertainment.”

Raymond, who founded Ubisoft Toronto and worked on blockbuster franchises such as Assassin’s Creed, Watch Dogs and Splinter Cell, will sit on the board with the likes of Sony Interactive Entertainment’s Shuhei Yoshida and ESRB’s Patricia Vance.

Meggan Scavio, the president of AIAS, welcomed Raymond’s appointment to the board.

“I’ve known Jade for a long time, and I’ve always had a deep respect for her and her work,” she said. “She’s a true industry leader with a genuine passion for the art of making video games. We have a shared goal to continue to support the video game industry and I can’t wait to work with her at the Academy.”

Min Kim, the chairman of the AIAS board and co-founder of Bonfire Studios, said that Raymond’s “passion, experience and perspective will make a tremendous impact to the AIAS mission of celebrating and elevating the art of game making.”

Following her departure from Ubisoft Toronto in 2014, Raymond founded Electronic Arts’ Motive Studios and is working on an untitled Star Wars title.
