Japanese Sales Charts: Ouch Edition

Despite all the Japanese game localization announcements over the past few days, it would seem that games from Japan…aren’t doing too well in Japan. Although it’s not exactly breaking news that Japan’s traditional gaming scene is a shell of its former self, the numbers from this week’s Media Create reports are pretty dreadful. With the top software title only selling ~15k units, and the country’s most dominating systems (Vita, 3DS, PS4) putting up numbers that are usually only synonymous with the Wii U, it’s easy to see that it’s rough being a gamer in Japan that likes anything other than mobile and browser games.

It’s also remarkably sad that the top selling game is Final Fantasy X|X-2 HD, which has already come out on PlayStation 3 and Vita. Nevertheless, go ahead and look at the numbers yourself. Don’t feel guilty about cringing either; we have been all day.
