The Long Dark, the Kickstarted survival sandbox game created by a ragtag team of former AAA developers, is getting a new face to add to its street cred. Developer Hinterland studios announced this morning that renowned voice actor Jennifer Hale will be voicing a playable character in the Steam Early Access sandbox version of the game, and she will voice a major character in the game’s story mode.
Hale has voiced several main characters for AAA games such as Mass Effect, Metal Gear and Bioshock: Infinite.
“When the The Long Dark was first announced, I was blown away by the concept and the potential for incredible storytelling and startling challenges in this setting,” Hale said, per a press release. “I’m thrilled to be able to be able to work this incredibly accomplished team that’s creating such a stark, beautiful, survival simulation, and I can’t wait for the fans to see what we have in store for them in the game’s story mode.”
The sandbox portion of the game will launch on Sept. 22, with the story mode releasing sometime in the next year, Hinterland says. Players who purchase the game in Early Access will get all this year’s additional story content included for $19.99.
