It’s been nearly thirteen years since Kingdom Hearts 2 released for the PS2 all the way back in 2006 and ever since then, Square Enix’s cross-over ventures with many a Disney property has found the series firing off in all sorts of directions (for better or worse) with prequels, interquels, remasters and bundled collections alike. But the big one fans had been waiting for was of course the actual third numbered release -- not least that it had all manner of unanswered questions, loose ends and cliff-hangers to resolve thanks in large part to the games that followed Kingdom Hearts 2 up until this point.

And after more than a decade of waiting, it seems that fans in the UK at least, haven’t been put off by the game’s numerous delays with Kingdom Hearts 3 landing the series its first top position in the chart. An entry we felt, in our review, delivered "the magic, gut-punches and grandeur the series is known for" and one that was well worth the wait. As a result, last week's number one, the similarly-fantastic remake of Resident Evil 2 drops into second place, with Rockstar's [now other] omnipresent release, Red Dead Redemption 2, hanging in there at number three.
