All good things must come to an end, but some endings are more final than others.  Fuser is one of Harmonix's major music games where you get to be the DJ, ripping out sections of one song and layering them into another, creating your own unique mix from tracks that were never meant to go together but somehow work anyway.  It's been out for a little over two years, releasing in November 2020, and features 271 songs you could strip for parts.  Admitted, a couple hundred were paid DLC, others were only available through the in-game store as rewards, and a small handful only distributed as event giveaways, but even just the base game contained dozens of tracks to play with.  That's all coming to end, though, with Harmonix announcing today that in addition to shutting  down the live services, which let you perform on a virtual stage for anyone who wanted to watch, the base game and all its extra tracks are being removed from sale.

For people who own Fuser, what this means is that they've still got access to the Campaign and Quick Play mode with all the music they've bought or earned, but online features like performing and earning diamonds to spend in a store of rotating content are gone for good.  At the moment Fuser is still being sold at its standard $19.99 price, plus a couple hundred dollars more for anyone wanting as complete a library of the DLC songs that are still available (the event-exclusives tracks are long gone and the Diamond Store songs don't rotate quickly enough to pick up anything a player might have missed) but as of December 19 that's coming to an end.  While no reason is given in the announcement it's not hard to guess that sales having long trailed off and keeping the licenses active are the most likely culprits, but it's still disheartening to see the party winding down.

In a rare case of getting to use the future perfect continuous tense, Fuser will have been available on Switch, Xbox One/X/S, Playstation 4 and 5, and Steam/Epic Game Store.  If you're interested at all now is the time to get it before everything disappears on December 19.
