What?

This isn't a joke. Well, it's probably a joke, but not of the never-actually-happening persuasion. Threshold Entertainment, the studio responsible for 1995's Mortal Kombat flick (one of the few video game adaptations that doesn't suck), is pretty darn serious about bringing a live-action, sci-fi adaptation of Tetris to the big screen.

"This isn’t a movie with a bunch of lines running around the page. We’re not giving feet to the geometric shapes," Threshold Chairman Larry Kasanoff stated in an exchange with The Wallstreet Journal. "We have a story behind 'Tetris' which makes it a much more imaginative thing."

Since Mortal Kombat's $70 million run at the box office, Threshold has worked primarily in animation. With major projects including Marvel and Lego, there's no doubt the company has the chops to make a Tetris movie. Making a good Tetris movie is something else altogether. There's currently no director or cast attached, but according to Kasanoff there's a script. Brace yourselves, folks. This might actually become a thing.
