With not long to go before the release of 2K's hotly-anticipated Mafia 3, it looks as though the game has suffered from a last-minute backlash with the community -- specifically those who were looking to play the game on PC. It's been reported, both by users on NeoGaf and PC Gamer -- and in the last couple of hours by the developers themselves -- that the game is indeed locked at 30FPS. Despite numerous attempts to alter the graphic and video settings, the changes show no effect on the frame-rate. An official statement has been released by the company which hopes to counter many people's concerns -- confirming many people's fears though reassuring them that a post-launch patch is already in the works.

"We know how important having options that best suit your PC’s performance capabilities are. The team has been hard at work ensuring that Mafia III’s performance is consistent across all platforms, and right now the game runs at a solid 30 frames-per-second..." it says. "We are currently working on an update for PC that will give players the option to play Mafia III at higher frame-rates. We’ll share more details about the update, and when you can expect it to arrive, very soon. In the meantime, the team welcomes feedback and would like to hear from you about what performance adjustment options are important to you."

It's disappointing to say the least that PC players have suffered what many consider as a set-back, but here's hoping 2K stick to their word and work to fix this issue as soon as possible. While we should have our official review of Mafia 3 up very soon, we must clarify that the copy supplied to us is of the PS4 version. Mafia 3 is available across PS4, Xbox One & PC.
