Nintendo and Team Ninja have announced a release date for the highly anticipated Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order.

The action RPG title is slated to launch, both physically and digitally, on July 19 for Nintendo Switch and will retail at $59.99.

The Black Order, which supports up to four players through local or online co-op, transports players to the Marvel universe as they attempt to find the Infinity Stones before Thanos does.

Team Ninja’s title features an abundance of Marvel’s famed characters from superhero teams like the Avengers, the Guardians of the Galaxy and the X-Men.

The roster will include characters like Captain America, Star-Lord, Wolverine, Spider-Man, Doctor Strange and Captain Marvel, to name a few.

The Black Order, which was first announced at The Game Awards in 2018, is the third installment in the franchise and is the sequel to 2009's Marvel: Ultimate Alliance 2.

“Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order brings gamers and Marvel fans together in a new action RPG exclusive to Nintendo Switch,” says Nick Chavez, the senior vice president of sales and marketing at Nintendo of America.

“With a huge cast of superheroes to choose from, assembling your ultimate team, strategically combining skills to unleash powerful attacks and preventing galactic devastation with friends has never been more fun or immersive.”

Jay Ong, the executive vice president at Marvel Entertainment, added: “Teaming up with Nintendo to bring Marvel Ultimate Alliance 3: The Black Order to the Nintendo Switch system elevates the Marvel Ultimate Alliance series to even greater heights.

“With the ability to play at home or on the go, solo, co-op and online with friends, Marvel fans can save the world from Thanos and high-stakes threats in any way they like, anytime, anywhere.”
