The Metal Max series has never really made it over to North America, which is a shame as it features unique vehicular RPG mechanics set in a Japanese spin on a Mad Max environment. We did get Mega Saga on the PS2, but that was decidedly one of the weakest entries in the series. After a three year absence, the series is back with Metal Max 4, set to debut later this year on the 3DS. Published by Kadokawa Shoten, not much is known about the release besides that fact that it probably won't come out here.

The official box art was released today for the game, seen below, which features rare hand-drawn images and is reminiscent of the box art from the '90s.
