Something that is so great about Steam is that Valve is pretty competitive.  While many new games released do charge the regular $60 fee, it isn't long before the game goes on sale.  Sony has also done a great job offering.  Sony has also done a good job offering PS Vita games purchased digitally a few dollars off.  On PS4 many games are given discounts or are available for free with PS+.  Microsoft, however, has not been competitive at all.

All games available for download on Xbox Live are full price and Xbox Live Gold subscribers don't get any discounts.  This has obviously angered many Xbox fans, however Major Nelson is here to reassure everyone.

Speaking on Reddit, Larry "Major Nelson" Hyrb reassured fans that Microsoft is listening.  "We are way aware of this and many of the concerns of the community - we have some great stuff planned for Xbox One this year (and beyond.) As soon as we can share some of the goodness...we will :)."

A fan asked if that meant we would be getting competitive pricing for digital games he replied that it, "is indeed on the agenda."

This is a smart move for Microsoft.  A large part of the $60 price tag on retail games is the fact that the publishers have to pay someone to make the box art, pay for the box and then ship it to the retailers.  With all of that out of the equation, digital games should be offered at a lower price.
