There's no denying that the offerings in both Games with Gold and PlayStation Plus have been light for their current generation lineups. Fortunately, their last generation inclusions have been great, giving us diversity and big budget games that are worth playing. That is more or less happening once more for next month's Games with Gold program.

For Xbox One, Killer Instinct: Season 1 Ultra Edition kick things off for Xbox Live Gold members, with Zheros being handed out halfway through the month. Not a bad offering, mixing a decently sized Microsoft first-party exclusive with an stylized indie title.

On the Xbox 360 side of things, DiRT Showdown will start the month off, with the award winning 2011 release of Deus Ex: Human Revolution cycling in on January 16. Once again, Xbox 360 takes the cake with offering a massive RPG worthy of playing (and replaying), and a fairly exciting arcade racing title. It certainly helps Microsoft has stated every Xbox 360 game added to this program will be backwards compatible on Xbox One.

Overall, it's not a bad month for Games with Gold, but we do wish 2016 would kick off with more of a bang on the Xbox One side of things.
