Microsoft and Samsung today announced that the Xbox app is coming to select Samsung smart TVs releasing this year.

Starting June 30, you'll be able to play Xbox games on select smart TVs without the need of an Xbox. Teased over a year ago, Xbox Cloud Gaming will finally arrive on smart TVs, but only if you own a 2022 Samsung model.

Samsung and Xbox have partnered up to bring the Xbox app to 2022 Samsung smart TVs first. With the app, users will be able to access and stream over 100 titles available on Xbox Game Pass. The app will be available on the Samsung Gaming Hub and will require you to log into your existing Microsoft account. New users can sign up and get Game Pass Ultimate for just $1. You'll be able to use any Bluetooth-enabled controller to play games, including the Xbox Wireless Controller, Elite Series 2 Controller, the Xbox Adaptive Controller, and the PlayStation DualSense.

Despite exclusively launching on Samsung smart TVs, Xbox did confirm they're working with other TV manufacturers to bring the app to them. According to the console manufacturer, bringing the Xbox app to more smart devices is all a part of their 20 year plan. That plan includes expanding Xbox Cloud Gaming to more countries, bringing new gaming experiences to Windows 11, and adding continued value to Xbox Game Pass, including new curated demos.

Of course, this all doesn't matter unless Xbox can provide high-quality games for users to play. Thankfully, we'll get a look at what Xbox has up their sleeve on June 12 during the Xbox & Bethesda Games Showcase.
