Minecraft continues to achieve what so many AAA games cannot.  The game that launched the Indie Game revolution has surpassed 15 million units sold on PC.

Markus "Notch" Persson confirmed the news on Twitter.  "The original Minecraft has sold 15 million copies! Time to celebrate!"  Included with the Tweet is a picture of him giving a thumbs-up next to a Red Bull can.  Notch sure does appear to love his Red Bull.

Back in February it was announced that Minecraft had sold 14 million units on PC.  The PC version originally launched November 2011.  It took about two and a half years to get to 15 million, which is extremely impressive.  It isn't just the PC version of Minecraft that is selling well.  The Mobile Edition, Xbox 360 Edition and PS3 Editions have all sold tremendously well.

PS4, Xbox One and PS Vita versions of Minecraft are currently in development and set for release sometime in 2014.
