Mortal Kombat X was announced two days ago with a bloody CG duel between Sub-Zero and Scorpion.  Today, Warner Bros. has released the boxart for the upcoming fighting game, and, as expected, creator Ed Boon's favorite character is front-and-center: Scorpion.

Scorpion is the only character featured on the box for all five versions of the game.  This is in stark contrast to Mortal Kombat (2011), which featured both Scorpion and Sub-Zero.

If you pre-order the game at Gamestop then you'll get a free poster featuring a spine being brutally smashed.  The company has also included a nice description of the game, giving us more insight into what to expect from the game:

"Fueled by next-gen technology, Mortal Kombat X combines unparalleled, cinematic presentation with all new gameplay to deliver the most brutal Kombat experience ever," the statement reads. "For the first time ever, Mortal Kombat X gives players the ability to choose from multiple variations of each character impacting both strategy and fighting style. And with a new fully-connected gameplay experience, players are launched into a persistent online contest where every fight matters in a global battle for supremacy.

We'll hear a lot more about the game next week at E3 2014 so stay tuned.  Mortal Kombat X is out sometime in 2015 on PS4, Xbox One, PC, PS3 and Xbox 360.
