Multiple Betas Planned for Ghost Recon: Wildlands in 2017

With only a few gameplay demos and trailers to date, Ubisoft’s Ghost Recon: Wildlands marketing approach is surprisingly secretive, considering the publisher’s usual affinity for trailer overload, such as their current approach with this month’s Watch Dogs 2. Fortunately, eager fans are going to have multiple opportunities to get their hands onto the open-world shooter prior to its launch next year.

Alongside the other bits and pieces of news revealed at Ubisoft’s financial call earlier today, CEO Yves Guillemot revealed the following welcome tidbit about Ghost Recon: Wildlands: “We expect in the next quarter to do some open betas and closed betas that will help a lot [for] players to actually know what the game is and what it can become.” With the next quarter most likely implying January to March 2017, curious players may only have to wait a couple of months before trying out a slice of the co-op game. Ubisoft’s player-inclusive approach prior to the launch of the game is an encouraging step for the launch and future of Ghost Recon: Wildlands, considering how this method benefitted The Division prior to its launch earlier this year.

Until more specific details are revealed about these betas, patient fans will just have to keep counting down the days until March 7, 2017, when Ghost Recon: Wildlands launches on PS4, Xbox One, and PC.
