Before the Holidays, 2K had announced that professional e-sports teams that are tied into NBA teams would be starting a league for NBA 2K18. The qualification to make it on one of these teams has begun in NBA 2K18. Players will need to win 50 games in NBA 2K18's Pro-Am mode and compete an online application by January 31. Players are allowed to compete as a walk-on or a part of a team. Pro-Am mode is strictly 5-on-5, so cohesiveness is a must. Players who meet these requirements in January can be invited to the next round of tryouts in February. The NBA 2K League is for players 18 or older, and is currently only for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One versions.

After the final round in February, the best players will be selected by real teams for the draft in March. Players will be relocated to these teams' locations. Each of the 17 teams participating will draft five players. The season will tip off in May 2018, which will be in the middle of the NBA Playoffs. It will run through August. Games will take place in one or two central studios during the inaugural season, even though players will be relocated to specific cities when drafted. If you're interested, you have until January 31 to go all-in.
