EA Sports has not put out an NBA Live game in nearly three years, and they're looking to make it four. Despite the fact that Electronic Arts' sports division is booming this year, having sold a ton of Hockey, Football and American Football video games, the company has announced today their decision not to release an NBA title in 2012.

"I'm disappointed that we have not yet met our high expectations with NBA LIVE, but I remain motivated about where we're going. We're committed to delivering new innovation in online, and our progress in the visual presentation of the game continues to take big strides. We also know that a great game starts with great gameplay, and this remains a huge priority for us," says Executive Vice President at EA Sports, Andrew Wilson.

Thankfully, the NBA isn't suffering from a lockout like the NHL is, so the world won't go without its basketball entirely; but this is quite a concerning matter. At this point, EA Sports' market share in the basketball court is significantly dwindling as this will be the second consecutive year the giant will leave 2k Sports' franchise unchallenged.
