A new crowdfunding project has popped up at IndieGogo that may interest the budding video game developer in all of us.

Ryan Shah, a published writer and Lead Developer at Kitatus Studios is looking to produce a free book for people who have always dreamt of creating video-games but have been scared about the learning curve.  He believe that thanks to the power of Unreal Engine 4, it's now as easy as ever to create video-games, and wants to produce the book, titled "So You Want To Make Video-Games?" and make it freely available to as many children, adults and elders as possible through the campaign.

The book will start from the top and teach about planning phases, concept art, design, production, and release phases, boasting that teaching through the use of Unreal Engine 4 will allow readers to turn their dreams into reality and make sure their games are next-gen compatible.  In addition to Unreal Engine 4, the book also plans to go over other peices of software and show how they will help to create a game.

  • Planning your Project - Google Drive, Google Chrome
  • Concept Art & Animatics - Adobe Flash / Photoshop
  • Audio Production - FL Studio, Audacity

  • Video-Game Production - Unreal Engine 4 (For 2D and 3D Projects!)

Ryan's plan is to use the money set up from the crowd-funding site to send the free book to as many libraries around the world and have the book translated into as many languages possible to make sure anyone whose ever dreamt of making video-games can achieve that dream.  The Project has already seen backing from the likes of Mark Rein (Vice President and Co-Founder of Epic Games), and as of this writing, the campaign stands at 57% of the way funded.
