WWE 2K17 is ramping up for release, and 2K has released a slew of new features. The series hasn't had backstage and crowd areas, so they are back and there will be new ladder, taunts, and a secondary system thrown in for good measure. The creation suite is being overhauled as well, allowing people to add more elements to their character. You can also create video highlights of matches and use them for create a video - where you can make created titantrons. Create a show and create a victory were also announced, but with little real info revealed on how they will play out.

The biggest announcement is that there won't be a 2K Showcase mode - one was planned for Brock, but seemingly not included due to licensing reasons with other roster members. Given the wording, it would seem like Kurt Angle would have been one of the people in the showcase mode, but a deal wasn't struck. Fortunately, with his whole career being playable in gaming form, it's not a gigantic loss.

The Universe mode is now aiming for a more TV-style presentation for Raw, SmackDown, and NXT. Promos will also be done and a new promo engine is included that should allow for full promos outside of just create a storyline. Virtual Pro Wrestling 2 back in 2000 was the first game with this feature, but it's not something we've seen a lot in wrestling games even though it requires very little technically and allows you to build up reasons in your own canon for a match to happen. MyCareer returns with the new goal being to face Brock Lesnar. Hopefully, we get some kind of super-hard version of Brock to beat, akin to the Undertaker in WWE 2K14, that resulted in some incredibly exciting encounters because Taker had powers and abilities he didn't have in the main game. WWE 2K17 is set for release on October 11 on the Xbox 360, Xbox One, PlayStation 3, and PlayStation 4.
