During the ongoing Nintendo Direct 2012 event, Nintendo has announced a large number of exciting news regarding its upcoming products but one of the biggest is in regards to the next Super Smash Bros.

The surprising announcement is that Nintendo won't be developing Super Smash Bros. for the Wii U and 3DS interally. The company has announced that Namco Bandai, in collaborations with Project Sora, will be handling development of the products, but fans can breathe easy as Masahiro Sakurai, lead designer of the franchise, will be overlooking the projects. This is no doubt a surprising turn, but we're seeing Nintendo outsource their products a little more frequently with the recent release of Metriod: Other M.
