So, not too long ago, Namco Bandia re-opened pre-orders on its bulky Wizard's Edition of the Level-5 developed Ni No Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch. This was kind of a big deal because pre-orders for the game closed months ago, however, folks still wanted to get their hands on the collectible goodness that came inside the fancy edition. Thus, when the deal went live, gamers flocked to Namco Bandia's online store and ordered to their heart's content. Unfortunately, all was not what it seemed.

Ni No Kuni was released on Tuesday, however, many of those who ordered the Wizard's Edition from the company's online store were without a copy to play. With little-to-no communication from Namco Bandai or Digital River, the company responsible for the actual handling and shipment of the game, on what the status was of on these purchases, people became confused and, for all intents and purposes, angry. Now, two days after the game's release, there's finally been an acknowledgement of the problem, and a subsequent response. It would appear that Digital River oversold their stock of the game. Uh oh. Here is a copy of the e-mail some folks are beginning to see:

Digital River is very sorry for the problems you had ordering NAMCO BANDAI's Ni no Kuni: Wrath of the White Witch™ - Wizard's Edition. Regretfully, we must inform you that because of an error in our ordering system, the available inventory of Wizard's Edition was oversold by mistake. As a result, we were unable to fulfill your order because it was placed after the stock was depleted. You will receive an official order cancellation notice within 24-48 hours.

What a botch, right? Well, it gets worse. One might assume that this issue is only relevant to the customers who purchased the Wizard's Edition just last week, when the pre-orders were opened for a second time -- but that's not the case. In fact, the interwebs are ablaze with chatter right now about some folks, who ordered the game last summer, being up a creek without a paddle. Meaning to say, even they're not getting their copies. I'm one of those people. I just got the e-mail an hour ago. Womp, womp.

Needless to say, if you purchased Ni No Kuni's Wizard's Edition from the Namco Bandai store, I wouldn't count on ever actually seeing that package. Sorry.
