All it took was a passing remark by Zelda's current series producer Eiji Aonuma at a recent Zelda music concert in Japan -- on the prospect of seeing 2011's Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Nintendo's current platform -- for the internet to descend once more into lunacy with talk on the company bringing over another previous entrant in the series, following the Wii U re-releases of Wind Waker and Twilight Princess alike.

But it looks like Nintendo have silenced any and all discussion on a potential port in the foreseeable future, issuing a brief-though-affirmative statement that reads: "at this time we have no plans to release The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword on Nintendo Switch." Naturally, there will still be those who will further read into "at this time..." but as stated previous, given Nintendo's track record in porting previous titles in the Zelda series over -- not to mention the plethora of [originally] Wii U titles now available on the Switch -- you can't blame fans for their wishful thinking.

If you're a series veteran, you may know that Skyward Sword proved to be one of the most divisive entries up to that point. While there was certainly some joy to be had in Link's first, proper Wii outing, the game quickly garnered plentiful amount of criticism from fans, ranging from its emphasis on motion-controls for combat, its more linear overworld and lest we forget, companion Fi's annoying pointing-out-the-obvious at almost every turn during your travels. The game did have a pleasant watercolor-esque art-style and aesthetic though, so there's that at least.
